Nuremberg

Born in Nuremberg. Collector of minerals and crystals since childhood — visiting many localities in order to find these treasures myself.

Curiosity led me to natural science, to the study of mineralogy at the FAU in Erlangen.

Two acceptances, one decision

A short period of deliberation: graphic design or fine art? Applications to the university and to the art academy — accepted by both.

Technical ceramics, worldwide

Entirely in industry, working as a scientist: the manufacture of technical ceramics, as a process engineer in plant construction, always at the front of new developments, deployed worldwide.

My profession demanded me. Art, let alone painting, came second — I am self-taught as a painter.

The return to painting

A new direction in my private life: I met the love of my life. Arriving in new surroundings, in the workrooms of a master painter and church painter, tools, colours and pigments worked on me constantly.

KONTINUUM

Over the years my mineral collection grew, and so did my skill at painting. A leaning towards Impressionism and Expressionism crystallised out ever more clearly.

To arrive at art by way of mineralogy and mining, process engineering, pigments and crystallography was the obvious path for me. The name for my studio was self-evident.

Further interests are climbing, speleology and gemmology. Now retired.
